The Abstracts will be published by Istanbul Technical University.

SOMA 2007 Guidelines for contributors
General Information

The SOMA 2007 proceedings will be published by Archaeopress in BAR
(British Archaeological Reports).

The word count is 5.000 maximum including footnotes and bibliography. Two A4 pages are allowed for illustrations.

All papers must be submitted no later than May 31, 2007.

Submissions will be accepted only by proceedings_soma2007@yahoo.com

The papers must be written in English

It is your responsibility to obtain copyright before submitting illustrations. Because this can be a lengthy process, we advise you to send the consent forms as soon as possible. You should also make sure that you have the right to publish the entire content of your paper. Please contact us if you are unsure.

We will only publish original work that was presented at SOMA 2007. Your submission must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

The guidelines below must be followed by everyone submitting a paper.

Format for submission:

1. The paper must be sent to us only by email.

2. All texts should be typed in Times New Roman at 10 point, single spaced and arranged in two columns for each page. Side margins should be 2.5cm; top and bottom margins should be 2.0cm. YOU CAN USE THIS FILE AS MATRIX FOR YOUR PAPER.

 Do not include page numbers.

3. Every new paragraph should be separated by an additional double space and should not be indented.

4. Illustrations must be submitted on a separate world file, please be sure to format all illustrations in B&W.

5. Each file must be called with the name of the first author followed by the indication of the kind of file, i.e: Fossataro_Text.doc and Fossataro_figs.doc

6. The combination of booth file must not exceed 2 Mb

7. At the beginning of any paper remember to indicate:

Title
Author’s name
Institutional Affiliation (Name of university, city, country, department)
 

Citation

Please use only footnotes. Use author/date style parenthetical documentation instead.

If a book has only one author: (Jones 1995: 122-3)
Two or three authors: (Zipursky and Jones 1997: 5)
More than three authors: (Zipursky, Jones, et al. 1997: 10)

Works by the same author published in the same year should be indicated by ‘a’, ‘b’, etc. and should follow date without intervening space, e.g. Edwards 1982a.

Do not use Ibid., op. cit. or similar expressions.

If you are quoting ancient sources, use extensive or abbreviated documentation in the footnote, ie:
Plato Phaedrus 267a5-b1 or Plato Phdr. 267a5-b1

Bibliography


1. Grouped in author-alphabetical order at the end of the article.
2. Page numbers are elided as far as possible, e.g. 223-71 rather than 223-271; 453-9 rather than 453-459, except for numbers 11-19, e.g. 312-17 not 312-7.
3. Page numbers are required within the reference for articles in journals and separate articles in books, e.g. do not write 37ff.
